Elizabeth A. Ellis Ohr, Psy.D. is a licensed psychologist. She specializes in evidence based treatment of anxiety disorders. Evidence based means that the treatments have been tested in multiple research studies and have been shown to be effective for most people.  Her specialty includes Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) for PTSD, Exposure and Response Prevention (EX/RP) for OCD, as well as cognitive-behavioral treatment for social anxiety, panic disorder, specific phobias, and generalized anxiety.  These treatments are usually time limited, meaning many people experience benefits early in treatment and complete treatment in 10-20 sessions. Dr. Ohr's goal is to make you the expert in your own anxiety and teach you the skills needed to manage your anxiety independent of regular therapy sessions.  She received her Psy.D. in clinical psychology from Immaculata University in 2009.  Dr. Ohr completed post doctoral training at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Center for Management of ADHD and the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine at the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety (CTSA).  She was clinical faculty at the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety prior to moving to New Hampshire. Dr. Ohr is the Past-President of the International OCD Foundation New Hampshire Affiliate and is a current member of the Executive Board. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, New Hampshire Psychological Association and the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies.

Dr. Ohr treats the following disorders:

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Panic Disorder
  • Social Anxiety Disorder
  • Specific Phobias
  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Dr. Ohr completes a full psychological evaluation during the first meeting and for clinical consultations. This usually takes 1.5 to 2 hours. The purpose of the evaluation is to understand what the client is struggling with and the severity of symptoms. Dr. Ohr does a clinical interview and uses some standardized assessment measures (they are the same for everyone and developed by experts) during her assessments. You will receive feedback from the assessment and treatment recommendations upon completion of the evaluation. Therapy sessions typically last 45 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on the anxiety disorder being treated and the nature of the treatment. Some exposure based therapies require additional time.

Dr. Ohr's fees are $195 per therapy hour.  Dr. Ohr is considered an out-of-network provider. She will provide an invoice that can be submitted to insurance that may cover out-of-network costs. Clients are responsible for being aware of their insurance company reimbursement policies. Dr. Ohr does feel it is important that individuals of all income levels have access to quality mental health care and is able to accommodate a limited number of clients on a sliding scale. Cash, check and credit cards are acceptable forms of payment and are due at the time of service. She accepts reimbursement through Health Savings Accounts.
